Long-Term Visas
General Work Visa
Issued to foreigners who do not qualify under the Critical Skills list or Intra-Company Transfers. Have to qualify as per the Government Gazetted Point System
Point System to qualify for General Work Visa
Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa
Allows a company to transfer an employee from its foreign branch to its South African operation. Valid for 4 years and non-renewable.
Accompany Spouse/Life-partner (3-5 Year Visa)
For spouses/life partners of valid visa holders or South African citizens/permanent residents. Does not grant work rights unless specified (see Section 11(6)).
Own Business Visa
For foreign entrepreneurs wanting to open or invest in a business in South Africa. Requires R5 million in funding brought from abroad. Waivers can be applied for if the amount is less. DTI endorsement is required.
Exchange Visa (18 - 24 months)
Extended exchange program visa for stays of 18 to 24 months in South Africa.
Section 11(16) Relatives Visa with the condition to work or be self-employed
A visitor's visa for foreign spouse's or life partners of South African citizens or permanent residence holders. First activity to accompany spouse/life partner, secondary activity to work or self-employment
Critical Skills Work Visa (5 Year Visa)
For individuals with skills deemed essential to South Africa’s economic growth, allowing them to live and work in the country.

Relatives Visa
Available for immediate family members (first or second degree of kinship) of South African citizens or permanent residents. Duration and conditions depend on the relationship and proof of financial support.
Accompany Child/ Parent (3-5 Year Visa) While a parent is on a valid visa in South Africa
Extends your stay in South Africa to accompany a child or parent who holds a valid visa.
Exchange Visa (12 months)
One-year visa for participating in approved exchange programs in South Africa.
Visitor's Visa with the condition to work as a Voluntary worker ( Maximum 3 years)
Visa allowing voluntary work in South Africa, with extension options up to 3 years.
Visitor's Visa with the condition to work as a remote worker on a remote basis
Visa to live in South Africa while working remotely for a foreign employer.
